New Resident Checklist
Everything to set up when you move to Verrado — utilities, driver license, voter registration, schools, and community association contacts.
A practical checklist for your first weeks in Verrado. Links go to official sources; details (especially fees and office hours) change, so verify as you go.
Before move-in
- City utilities (water, sewer, trash): set up service with the City of Buckeye utility billing department — 623-349-6100. Trash/recycling collection schedules are on the city's trash and recycling page.
- Electricity / gas: providers vary by address in Buckeye — confirm which utilities serve your specific home with your builder, seller, or the city.
- Internet: availability varies by street; check providers against your exact address.
First two weeks
- Arizona driver license & vehicle registration: new residents must get an AZ license and register vehicles — handled through AZ MVD / AZMVDNow. Arizona requires a vehicle emissions test in the Phoenix area before registration for most vehicles.
- Voter registration: register online via the Arizona Secretary of State (AZ license/ID required for online). Elections for Verrado addresses are run by Maricopa County Elections.
- School enrollment: elementary/middle through Litchfield Elementary School District #79; high school through Agua Fria Union High School District. See our schools guide.
Community setup
- Community association: get your resident account, amenity access (including Heritage Swim Park), and design guidelines from the Verrado Community Association — start at the verrado.com FAQ. Victory residents also register with the Victory District Association.
- Events & clubs: the Verrado Assembly runs the community calendar — the fastest way to meet neighbors.
- Know your tax bill: Verrado homes carry Community Facilities District assessments on the Maricopa County property tax bill — see the City of Buckeye CFD pages to understand what they fund.
Good to know
- Trash cans out of sight: like most planned communities, Verrado's design standards regulate where bins are stored — check the community standards before your first collection day.
- Emergency services: Buckeye Police and Buckeye Fire serve Verrado; non-emergency numbers are on buckeyeaz.gov.
- County services: property records, assessor, and tax questions go through Maricopa County.
